Silhouette Long Sleeve
Silhouette Long Sleeve
Hedi Slimane’s Spring 2003 collection titled ‘Follow Me’ bellowed outwards in harsh contrast to his skinny, waif figure. The silhouette he had become distinctly known for seemed to vanish at the sight of boxy cuts and tasseled bottoms. Aside from the thematic asymmetries, boots walked with leather to pair in a monochromatic fashion, few looks permitting any hues of pigment. While the catwalk lacked saturation, design subtleties flourished, emitting rays of metallic complexion. ‘Follow Me’ communicated Slimane’s ability to refine menswear in an assortment of niche and experiment with precision.
This sweater pays tribute to Canadian designer Nicolas Andreas Taralis, who was positioned as Slimane’s assistant at the Dior namesake. In 2003 Taralis departed in pursuit of his own label, inciting the garment shown. Taken from a side profile, the imagery sits void of detail in a complimenting black colour, portraying a nod of appreciation to the artisan.
