Split Logo "Splogo" Work Jacket
Split Logo "Splogo" Work Jacket
Japanese designer label Comme des Garçons was founded by Rei Kawakubo in 1969. 50 years later, the label has become central to the fashion industry. It hosts various lines, including Comme des Garçons Play and Comme des Garçons SHIRT, each with iconic designs. Since 2004, the brand has expanded through its global experience-based multibrand department stores under the name Dover Street Market. The brands’ designs have been perhaps most notably influential in their use of unique silhouettes and shapes. These unique and bold designs, atypical of luxury fashion, have become both influential and highly sought-after. This jacket Autumn/Winter 2002 is crafted from two black cotton work jackets, sewn together, with a bold blue split logo on the front. The split logo design has been replicated by the label over the years on shirts, sweaters and various jackets. These split logo pieces have become incredibly coveted archive pieces -- few Comme des Garçons pieces can claim such aftermarket value. Supreme, no stranger to collaborations with the label, released a split logo version of its iconic box logo tees and hoodies in collaboration with Comme des Garçons SHIRT in 2018, only increasing interest and desire in the original split logo pieces.
